One of the more deluxe stadiums in the NFL, U.S. Bank Stadium will be the site of Super Bowl LII. The 52nd Super Bowl will be in Minneapolis for the second time. The first time the game was played here was in 1992 for Super Bowl XXVI, when the Washington Redskins beat the Buffalo Bills. It was on this same site, just in a different stadium—back when it was called the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. This is only the second season the stadium has been fully-operational. Nevertheless, it will be the home of Super Bowl 52.
In order to book Super Bowl LII, this venue had to beat out two strong finalists—Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and the Mercedes Benz Superdome, the 7-time venue for the big game. But at the 2014 owner's meetings, U.S. Bank Arena was named the host. With it being years since a home team went to the Bowl with the game in their home stadium, the last being the LA Rams back in Super Bowl XIV, will this be the season to break that streak? The rising Vikings have a lot of issues preventing people from tagging them as a viable Super Bowl team, but who knows? It has been nearly 4 decades since we have seen that occur.
