Which Quarterback Will Have the Most Passing Touchdowns in 2018?

Which Quarterback Will Have the Most Passing Touchdowns in 2018?

By Loot, NFL Handicapper, Lootmeister.com

In another NFL prop bet, we now try to figure who will throw the most touchdowns this season in the NFL. It's an interesting mix of candidates—featuring dependable veterans who seemingly always deliver big numbers, along with some youngsters who are poised to see their stats swell. One can also be justified in picking more off-the-radar candidates, as shown last season with Russell Wilson leading this category with 34 TD passes. Among some of the other top choices who have already led the league in passing touchdowns include Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, and Andrew Luck.

There are some guys you simply cannot ignore. Drew Brees, a 4-time leader in this category, is one of them. Tom Brady is also a 4-time leader in passing TDs. Both are up there in years, but still commandeer strong offenses and are still good enough to rank as top players in this bet. Rodgers should be in the thick of it if healthy and ditto for Philip Rivers, who has a vast cast of talented ball-catchers with which to work. If not for his injury, Carson Wentz would have had the most passing scores, falling just one short of Wilson. Youngsters Jared Goff, Deshaun Watson, and Jimmy Garoppolo stand out as interesting X-factors this season, as well.

Top Favorite Picks:

Tom Brady (+500): On one hand, he's old at 41, but not so old that he didn't lead the league in passing yardage last season. A few more TDs and he would've led that category, as well. Until he hangs 'em up, he'll always be a factor in this stat.

Ben Roethlisberger (+650): Oddly, he has never led the league in passing touchdowns, but with a stocked cast of targets, a full season should find Roethlisberger near the top of this category.

Drew Brees (+650) Last season's passing TD total of 23 was the lowest of his career when playing a full season. With those great backs, they have different ways to find pay-dirt. But we see that as a bit of an aberration and see more from Brees this season.

Top Middle-of-the-Road Picks:

Carson Wentz (+900): We like the price on a player who would have surely led this category if not for being injured. And that same issue rears its head for this season's prospects, as we don't know if Wentz will hit the ground running. If he does, he should be right in this.

Jared Goff (+1400): He came into his own last season with 28 aerial strikes for scores. We think he could develop even more this season and with an offense that flexes of more and improved aerial weaponry, he might get in the hunt for the league-lead.

Russell Wilson (+1600): It's hard to disregard such juicy odds for the very player who led the NFL in passing TDs last season. Granted, the targets could be diminished with injuries and departures, but if some players rise up around him, he could be in the thick of it once again.

Top Longshot Picks:

Andrew Luck (+2000): Granted, he's been out of action for a while and the Indy offense doesn't inspire much confidence. But let's say he hits the field and is like the old Andrew Luck. Then you're getting thick odds on a guy who has won this award before and shown to be a prolific passer when healthy.

Kirk Cousins (+2000): Something about the Minnesota offense doesn't inspire much confidence in terms of aerial fireworks. But maybe the more-reliable aerial package of the Vikings suits Cousins better and leads to a statistical bonanza.
