Lootmeister College Football Archives: September Through October 2016

Week 9 College Football Plays: Utah State +4.5 (Friday game), Utah Utes +10, Texas Longhorns +4. (Game previews will return next week!)

Texas A&M Aggies vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Pick - In a massive SEC matchup with potential national ramifications, the Texas A&M Aggies come to Tuscaloosa to face the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. Both teams are unbeaten and the winner of this game would add a major nugget to their resume. Alabama is a resounding favorite at home, but maybe they'll get a tough test from the Aggies. Who covers this week in this big battle from Bryant-Denny Stadium? (3:30PM EST) - 10/22

Miami Hurricanes vs. Virginia Tech Hokies Pick - In a battle of 4-2 ACC teams, the Miami Hurricanes come to Lane Stadium to face the Virginia Tech Hokies to face the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday. Neither team had a particularly strong week, coming off losses. Miami fell to a UNC team that had been flogged by Virginia Tech the week prior. And VT missed the spread by 37 points in a loss to Syracuse. Both teams can still do big things this season so who gets on the right track this week? (7PM EST) - 10/20

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Wisconsin Badgers Pick - The Ohio State Buckeyes, ranked number-two in the nation, face a tough road test when they take on the 8th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday in a huge Big Ten matchup. Ohio State is unbeaten and needs to make these key games count if they want to get into the CFP. Wisconsin nearly beat Michigan at home in their last game and have shown themselves to be a much tougher team than many suspected. Who comes out ahead in this one? (8PM EST) - 10/15

Mississippi Rebels vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Pick - In more SEC action on Saturday, the Ole Miss Rebels come into Fayetteville to face the Arkansas Razorbacks. Look for fireworks in this matchup, especially if it's anything like last season's battle when the Razorbacks went for two in OT for the 53-52 win. Who wins and covers the spread in this season's matchup? Loot offers his ATS advice here. (7PM EST) - 10/15

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Tennessee Volunteers Pick - In a big SEC showdown at Neyland Stadium on Saturday, the top-rated defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide visit the Tennessee Volunteers. Alabama looks to add a nice nugget to their 2016 resume on the road against a Tennessee bunch that has been resilient with some big wins to their credit. The Vols came up short in OT to the Aggies last week after another big comeback saw them tie the game. Can they use some of the hard-earned experience of this season to spring a big upset and score a signature win or will the Tide keep on rolling? (3:30PM EST) - 10/15

Duke Blue Devils vs. Louisville Cardinals Pick - On Firday in ACC action, the Duke Blue Devils come to visit the Louisville Cardinals. Louisville and TD machine Lamar Jackson lost a painful one to Clemson two weeks ago and after a break look to get back on the winning track. But could Duke be a little tougher than what is being forecasted. The number is pretty big, so who knows? Loot gives his take in this article. (7PM EST) - 10/14

Florida State Seminoles vs. Miami Hurricanes Pick - In big ACC action from Hard Rock Stadium, the Florida State Seminoles face in-state rival the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday. The Seminoles have already dropped two games this season, including a heartbreaker last week to North Carolina. Miami, meanwhile, has zoomed out to a 4-0 record and now face a real litmus test with the 'Noles coming into town. Can Miami take that next step forward or will they hit a wall against the still-explosive Seminoles? Loot offers his take here. (8PM EST) - 10/8

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Pick - The top-rated Alabama Crimson Tide face what could a major test with a road visit to face the 4-1 Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday. Alabama is on a roll and looks good, but the Razorbacks are good at home and have won 10 of 12 games overall. Will the Tide continue to roll or will they get stiff resistance from the Razorbacks on Saturday? And of course, who will cover the spread? Loot breaks it all down in this article. (7PM EST) - 10/8

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Texas A&M Aggies Pick - Big-time SEC action come to College Station on Saturday as the Tennessee Volunteers come to face the Texas A&M Aggies. Both teams are 5-0 and looking to become a contender with what would be a big win this week. Can Tennessee, after some stunning comeback wins including a Hail Mary finish against Georgia this past week, stay on-point against a balanced-looking A&M bunch? Or can A&M do what they've falied to do the past two season and follow through on a promising start to the season? Loot offers his guidance in this article. (3:30PM EST) - 10/8

Clemson Tigers vs. Boston College Eagles Pick - The Clemson Tigers come to Chestnut Hill to face the Boston College Eagles in ACC action on Friday. Clemson scored a signature win over the high-flying Louisville Cardinals with a stirring comeback this past Saturday. Can they come back on the short week and avoid the letdown spot against the 3-2 Eagles, who scored a dominant week 5 win? Loot breaks down Friday action here, with his ATS pick. (7:30PM EST) - 10/7

Nevada Wolf Pack vs. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Pick - In a Satruday night late special from Aloha Stadium, the Nevada Wolf Pack come to face the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in Mountain West Conference action. The 2-2 Wolf Pack are looking for a nice road win to enhance their conference standing, while Hawaii is looking for their second win of the season. The Rainbow Warriors are showing signs of an offense looking to reclaim their high-flying ways of the past. But will their "D" betray them? Loot offers his take, as we try to close college football week 5 strong. (11:59PM EST) - 10/2

Louisville Cardinals vs. Clemson Tigers Pick - The Louisville Cardinals come to Memorial Stadium on Saturday for a huge ACC matchup with the Clemson Tigers. This is a matchup of top-five teams where the winner becomes a clear frontrunner for the CFP. Louisville has been riding on the crest of TD machine Lamar Jackson, but Clemson didn't get to where they are by letting themselves get run over by hotshot quarterbacks and surely Tigers' QB Deshaun Watson wants to do something to get back into the Heisman discussion after starting the season among the favorites. This looks like a game with a lot of fireworks in store. Who comes out ahead and who covers the spread? (8PM EST) - 10/1

Kentucky Wildcats vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Prediction - The Kentucky Wildcats come to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday to take on the defending champion and top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. After beating South Carolina on Saturday, Kentucky is looking to pull off the improbable and if they can't do that, they have a lot of points to work with for backers looking to get a cover. Alabama, meanwhile, is looking to keep it rolling and avoid the letdown. Who covers the spread this week? (7PM EST) - 10/1

Texas A&M Aggies vs. South Carolina Gamecocks Pick - In SEC action from Columbia, the Texas A&M Aggies come into hostile territory to face the South Carolina Gamecocks. So far, it's been so good for the Aggies, who are now unbeaten and ranked 9th and look to continue moving forward. But maybe the Gamecocks can deliver at home or at least cover the big number. Who comes out ahead in this battle? And who covers the spread? (4PM EST) - 10/1

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan Wolverines Pick - The Wisconsin Badgers come to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday in a huge Big Ten Conference battle. Both teams are unbeaten and this game could have far-reaching consequences in the conference and even nationally. Wisconsin has scored big wins over LSU and Michigan State. They can't beat the Spartans and Wolverines in back-to-back road games, though, can they? Michigan looks to put a stop to the Wisconsin gravy train this week, but after being eased into action in 2016, will they be pressed by the more-tested Badgers? Loot offers his two cents here. (3:30PM EST) - 10/1

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Georgia Bulldogs Pick - In a big SEC matchup in Sanford Stadium, the Tennessee Volunteers come to face the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia had a rough week 4 game after starting the season with promise in a bad loss to Ole Miss. They can make it better at home this week against an incoming Volunteers bunch that was electrifying on Saturday with a high-powered comeback win over longtime tormentor Florida. Who comes out on top this week? (3:30PM EST) - 10/1

Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Pick - On Saturday in Big Ten action, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights come to Ohio Stadium to face the second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Rutgers is looking at a very tall task against a rested and home Buckeyes bunch. Ohio State has looked pretty fierce through the early part of the season and should be on-point on Saturday. But with a fat point-allowance, can Rutgers vaguely hang in there and prevent a full-on stomping? Loot offers his ATS advice in this article. (12PM EST) - 10/1

Stanford Cardinal vs. Washington Huskies Pick - In Pac-12 action between two top ten teams, the Stanford Cardinal come up to Seattle to face the Washington Huskies on Friday. Both teams are unbeaten and looking for a huge win in a game that has obvious Pac-12 implications, but perhaps national ones, as well. It's been a long time since the Washington faithful have had a game this big to get fired up about at Husky Stadium. What does this Friday game have in store? Loot posits his take here. (9PM EST) - 9/30

Connecticut Huskies vs. Houston Cougars Pick - On Thursday night action, the Connecticut Huskies face the Houston Cougars. The Cougars are ranked high and big favorites over the Huskies at home this week. However, last season, the Huskies were able to spoil a perfect season for the Cougars, beating the Cougars in their only loss of the season. Can they repeat that feat or at least cover the spread or will a revenge-minded and healthy Cougars team add another landslide win to their resume? Loot chimes in here with his take. (8PM EST) - 9/29

Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Texas A&M Aggies Pick - In Saturday SEC action, the Arkansas Razorbacks take on the Texas A&M Aggies in a battle of 3-0 teams at AT&T Stadium. Both teams have their sights set on some big things and this game would go a long way for both teams. Both teams already have good wins this season with the Razorbacks having beaten TCU and A&M beating UCLA and Auburn. In last year's battle, the Aggies won a tough overtime battle. Will this season's game be another battle that comes down to the end? (9PM EST) - 9/24

USC Trojans vs. Utah Utes Prediction - The Southern Cal Trojans come to Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City to face the Utah Utes on Saturday in key Pac-12 action. The Trojans are in the need of a big win after a 1-2 start with lopsided losses to Alabama and Stanford. But they will be facing a 3-0 Utah bunch that looks to take another positive step this week at home? Can USC repeat their win from last season when they upended a ranked 6-0 Utah team? Or will Utah have the upper hand this season? Loot gives his opinion on who will cover the spread this week. (9PM EST) - 9/24

Stanford Cardinal vs. UCLA Bruins Pick - In Pac-12 action, the defending conference champion Stanford Cardinal come to the Rose Bowl to take on the UCLA Bruins. Last season, Christian McCaffrey had one of his biggest games against UCLA en route to a Cardinal win. Can he duplicate that performance against a better UCLA defense? Or will Josh Rosen and the Bruins rise to the occasion for the big win? Loot offers his ATS guidance in this article. (8PM EST) - 9/24

Florida Gators vs. Tennessee Volunteers Pick - In more SEC action in week 4, the Florida Gators come into Neyland Stadium to face the Tennessee Volunteers in a battle of 3-0 teams. Florida is showing a good defense, but must now soldier on without Luke Del Rio at quarterback, with Purdue transfer Austin Appleby taking over the reigns. It's a bad time to be having QB issues, especially against a good Tennessee team at home that is looking to make a national splash this season. Who can go to 4-0 and look ahead to bigger things in this critical SEC East Division battle? (3:30PM EST) - 9/24

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan State Spartans Pick - In Big Ten action on Saturday, the Wisconsin Badgers come to East Lansing to face the Michigan State Spartans. Wisconsin is 3-0 and looking for what would be a huge conference win for the program. But on Saturday, the Spartans again showed why they are one of the nation's most underrated teams with a big win over Notre Dame. Which team can take a big step forward in the Big Ten and perhaps beyond this season starting here in this key battle? Loot offers his take in this article. (12PM EST) - 9/24

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Ole Miss Rebels Prediction - In SEC action, the 3-0 Georgia Bulldogs come to Oxford to face the Ole Miss Rebels in key week 4 action. Georgia is looking to score a big road win to boost their resume. Ole Miss is coming off a rough patch, as they blew huge leads to FSU and Alabama in demoralizing losses. They could really use a positive development, but will have to find some answers on defense with Nick Chubb and the Bulldogs coming into town. Who comes out ahead in this one? (12PM EST) - 9/24

Clemson Tigers vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Pick - On Thursday, Clemson begins its ACC conference schedule, as they come into Bobby Dodd Stadium to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Clemson, the championship runner-up from last season, has started a bit slowly, but is still 3-0. Georgia Tech is also 3-0, equalling their win-total from last season and looking a lot better with their triple-option offensive attack. Can Clemson avoid disaster or will they show why they were among the favorites this season and justify their top-five ranking. Loot offers his take in this article. (7:30PM EST) - 9/22

Texas Longhorns vs. California Golden Bears Prediction - The Texas Longhorns make the trip west to Berkeley to face the Cal Golden Bears in week three action late on Saturday. Cal is 1-1, but can still air it out, with Davis Webb already closing in on 1000 yards passing after just two games. Texas, meanwhile, is 2-0 and after a win over Notre Dame, are looking to make a national splash this season. Can they avoid the upset bug against a Cal team that beat them last season in Austin? Loot chips in with his ATS pick in this article. (10:30PM EST) - 9/17

UCLA Bruins vs. BYU Cougars Pick - In late Saturday week 3 action, the UCLA Bruins come to Provo to take on the BYU Cougars. Last season, this one came down to the wire, with UCLA scoring the close win. It's been another dramatic start to the season for both teams. Opening the season against two Pac-12 teams, BYU won one close one, while losing another. UCLA had some drama of their own in week one with a heartbreaking loss at Texas A&M. After winning in week two, can they take another step forward this week against a tough BYU home bunch? (10:30PM EST) - 9/17

USC Trojans vs. Stanford Cardinal Prediction - In big-time Pac-12 conference play, the two respective winners of each conference division face each other in week three, with the Southern Cal Trojans taking on the Stanford Cardinal. These teams went at it twice last season and know each other well. Both teams, however, are working with new quarterbacks, as they attempt to establish an offensive identity. Can Christian McCaffrey run over the USC "D" or will the Trojans spring the road surprise? Loot chimes in with his ATS pick here. (8PM EST) - 9/17

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Oklahoma Sooners Pick - One of the big games in week three features two of the more storied programs in the sport, as the Ohio State Buckeyes come to Norman to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners are at home with a chance to score a huge win to atone for their week one upset loss to Houston. Ohio State, 54-4 under Urban Meyer, are 2-0 and looking to add a huge win to their non-conference ledger. In a game with huge national ramifications, who is better-prepared to come out ahead? Loot offers his take in this article (7:30PM EST) - 9/17

Michigan State Spartans vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Pick - The Michigan Spartans come to face Notre Dame in a big game on Saturday in week three action. Michigan State made the College Football Playoff last season and after a week one win followed by a break, they get down to serious business this week against the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame has some ground to make up after a week one thriller loss to Texas. They righted the ship with a week two win. Can they get back in the mix with a big win at home? (7:30PM EST) - 9/17

Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. LSU Tigers Pick - In SEC action in week three, the Mississippi State Bulldogs come to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers. Both teams have been bitten by the upset bug this season already, with LSU dropping one to Wisconsin, while Mississippi State lost to 27.5-point underdog South Alabama. Both teams got wins in week 2 and are set for a rematch from a good game last season won narrowly by LSU, 21-19. Who comes out ahead in this matchup and who covers the spread? Loot posits his take in this article. (7PM EST) - 9/18

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Mississippi Rebels Pick - In heavyweight SEC action, the Alabama Crimson Tide come into Oxford to face the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebels lost to FSU in a heartbreaker in week one, before winning in week two. The Tide crushed USC in week one before beating WKU and the defending champions look strong indeed. Still, despite their recent success, Ole Miss is a thorn is their side, having beaten 'Bama each of the last two times they played. Who comes out ahead in this season's matchup. (3:30PM EST) - 9/17

Colorado Buffaloes vs. Michigan Wolverines Pick - In a battle of 2-0 teams, the Colorado Buffaloes come to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines. Colorado has been impressive in their first two games and could really pump some wind into their program's sails with what would be a huge win. To do so, they have to upend a Michigan team that has opened the season strongly and has their sights set on bigger things. Who comes out ahead in this matchup? Loot offers his take and who he is picking to cover the spread in this article. (3:30PM EST) - 9/17

Oregon Ducks vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers Pick - In a battle of 2-0 teams looking to upgrade their profiles, the Oregon Ducks come to Memorial Stadium to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers in a key Pac-12 vs. Big Ten battle. Which team is more primed to rejoin the national stage? In this article, Loot offers his take and who he thinks will cover the spread. (3:30PM EST) - 9/17

Florida State Seminoles vs. Louisville Cardinals Pick - This is a big-time matchup with the Florida State Seminoles facing the Louisville Cardinals in a battle of high-powered teams. This game will have obvious conference ramifications in the ACC and maybe even beyond that. Florida State already beat a good team in a massive comeback win over Ole Miss in week one. Can they add another big win on Saturday? Louisville and touchdown machine Lamar Jackson might have something to say about that. Loot gives his take here. (12PM EST) - 9/17

Baylor Bears vs. Rice Owls Pick - Friday night action features an in-state battle with the Baylor Bears coming into Houston to face the Rice Owls. Baylor is 2-0 and looks to keep it moving against their big home underdog opponent. Neither team has covered the spread in a combined four tries. Who can get it done on Friday in the Texas night? Will Baylor cover the big number or can Rice maybe hang in there a little bit? Check out Loot's take in this piece! (8PM EST)- 9/16

Houston Cougars vs. Cincinnati Bearcats Pick - Houston looks to continue a potentially-charmed season, as they come into Nippert Stadium to face the Cincinnati Bearcats, who have also started the season 2-0. Houston made a national splash with a week one win over Oklahoma, but can't afford a slip-up against a dangerous conference foe with an offense that is coming into its own. Can the Cougars continue piling on the punishment or can a Cincy home team come up with an answer? Loot posits his take here. (7:30PM EST) - 9/15

Virginia Cavaliers vs. Oregon Ducks Pick - The Virginia Cavaliers face a long road trip as they come all the way to Eugene to face the Oregon Ducks. And new Cavaliers head coach Bronco Mendenhall had a rough debut in his first season with UVA, dropping a 37-20 loss to FCS team Richmond in week one. Things get a whole lot tougher this week against the high-powered Ducks, who took care of business with their overmatched week one FCS opponent. Who notches the cover in this battle? (10:30PM EST) - 9/10

Washington State Cougars vs. Boise State Broncos Prediction - In what looks to be an entertaining shootout, the Washington State Cougars travel to Albertsons Stadium to face the Boise State Broncos. For a second straight season, the Cougars have to overcome a week one loss to an FCS opponent, but they did it last season and we'll see how they bounce back this time. They have their work cut out with a Boise bunch that looked on-point with a week one and cover. Loot breaks down the matchup in this article. (10:15PM EST)

UNLV Rebels vs. UCLA Bruins Pick - They came so close to scoring a great comeback in week one at Texas A&M, falling just short in OT, but the Bruins look to atone for that in their home-opener, as they face UNLV in week two college football action at the Rose Bowl. UNLV looked better in week one, albeit against an FCS opponent. Can they give an irritated UCLA squad a little sweat? Or will the Bruins start to click with a new offensive system and star QB Josh Rosen? Loot breaks it all down in this article! (8PM EST) - 9/10

BYU Cougars vs. Utah Utes Pick - In an in-state rivalry game, the BYU Cougars come into Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Utes in key week two action. BYU showed they still have the capacity for the dramatic after a last-second win over Arizona in week one. Utah also emerged victorious in week one, but should have their hands full here against a full-strength Cougars bunch. Who comes out ahead in this one and for our purposes, who will cover the spread? Loot offers his full breakdown here. (7:30PM EST) - 9/10

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Pick - Following an utterly dominant week one performance where Alabama slaughtered USC, 52-6, the defending national champions host the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in week two action. WKU are the defending Conference-USA champions coming off a 12-win season and a dominant week one win. Things get a lot tougher this week. Can the Hilltoppers hang a little bit with the Tide or will Alabama be able to cover the big spread? Loot cmimes in with his take here. (3:30PM EST) - 9/10

Nevada Wolf Pack vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Pick - Notre Dame opens up at home against the 1-0 Nevada Wolf Pack in key week two action. After a deflating double-overtime loss to Texas in a Sunday night battle-royale, Notre Dame needs to right the ship and should get in the win-column against a Nevada bunch that struggled in week one to defeat FCS foe Cal Poly. But who will cover the spread? Loot offers his wagering guidance here. (3:30PM EST) - 9/10

Kentucky Wildcats vs. Florida Gators Pick - In SEC action in week two, the Kentucky Wildcats come to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators. Under Jim McElwain, Florida was able to make a big step forward last season to revive their program and look for more after a week one win. Kentucky came up short in week one, but could atone for that here. Florida has beaten Kentucky 29 straight times, the longest streak in the FBS. Will they make it 30 on Saturday? (3:30PM EST) - 9/10

Utah State Aggies vs. USC Trojans Prediction - After a super-tough opener where they were slaughtered by Alabama by 46, Southern Cal looks to rebound in their home-opener against incoming opponent Utah State. The Aggies looked good in week one, though it came against in-state FCS opponent Weber State. Still, the last time these two teams played a few years ago, Utah State was surprisingly-tough. Can they duplicate that effort or is USC set to roll in week two? (2PM EST) - 9/10

Central Florida Knights vs. Michigan Wolverines Pick - The Central Florida Knights come up to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines in week two Saturday action on ABC. Michigan looked pretty fierce in week one with a romp over Hawaii, as they're laying the foundation for what they hope is a transcendent season. The Knights are certainly facing a tough road spot, but after a winless 2015 season, they were able to score a week one 38-0 victory to kick off new coach Scott Frost's tenure off to a good start. Can Big Blue cover the big number or will UCF give them a little bit of a fight? (12PM EST) - 9/10

Wyoming Cowboys vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers Pick - The Wyoming Cowboys come to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers in week two action. Wyoming looked pretty good with a week one win and could finally be turning the corner, but will have their work cut out with a home 'Huskers squad that smashed Fresno St. in their season-opener. Can the Cowboys give them a run for their money or are the Cornhuskers just on another level? Loot offers his wagering guidance in this piece. (12PM EST) - 9/10

Louisville Cardinals vs. Syracuse Orange Pick - Friday week two action features an interesting ACC matchup, with the Louisville Cardinals coming into the Carrier Dome to face the Syracuse Orange. Louisville looked pretty scary in week one with a 70-14 win where QB Lamar Jackson threw six 1st-half touchdowns, while running for two more. But Syracuse was also successful in week one and looks to make a statement at home this week that they're something more than ACC doormats. Check out Loot's take here. (8PM EST) - 9/9

Mississippi Rebels vs. Florida State Seminoles Pick - In a showcase game on Monday in week one, the Ole Miss Rebels meet the Florida State Seminoles in the Citrus Bowl in a key opener. Both team won ten games last season and havetheir sights set on bigger things in 2016. Chad Kelly's electric arm returns for the Rebels, while FSU returns one of the sports' biggest difference-makers in RB Dalvin Cook. It looks to be one of the best matchups of opening week, so who comes out ahead in this one? (8PM EST) - 9/5

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Texas Longhorns Pick - With the spotlight solely on them in a week one Sunday spot, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish come into Austin to face the Texas Longhorns. Notre Dame is coming off a ten-win season where they weren't far off from doing some really big things. They still have a lot of voids to address in order to become a real contender this season. And for Texas, the Charlie Strong tenure is now in its third year and has bared minimal fruits, meaning we can at least anticipate some urgency from them this season. Who will cover the spread in this interesting week one matchup on Sunday? (7:30PM EST) - 9/4

BYU Cougars vs. Arizona Wildcats Prediction - The BYU Cougars make the trip to Glendale to face the Arizona Wildcats at University of Phoenix Stadium in a late game on opening Saturday of the college football season. BYU was one of the nation's more-exciting teams last season and look for another strong season under new head coach and Cougars player Kalani Sitake. Meanwhile, Rich Rodriguez' Wildcats are looking to expand on their 7-win season of a year ago with what would be a great start to their campaign with a win here. Who comes out on the sunny side of this matchup? (10:30PM EST) - 9/3

Clemson Tigers vs. Auburn Tigers Pick - More important week 1 action takes place at Jordan-Hare Stadium, with last season's championship runner-up the Clemson Tigers coming to take on the Auburn Tigers. It's a nice ACC vs. SEC matchup, as Clemson again looks to make a big national push. They get a pretty tough opener against an Auburn team looking to reclaim its position atop the stacked SEC. Who comes out ahead in this one, and more importantly for us bettors, who covers the spread? (9PM EST) - 9/3

USC Trojans vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Pick - Opening Saturday of the college football season gets off to a fast start, with the USC Trojans meeting the defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide at AT&T Stadium on September 3. The Tide are once again loaded and primed for another run at the top in 2016. But the Trojans are naturally a program with high hopes of their own and they would pump a ton of wind into their sails if they could pull this off. In this article, Loot breaks down the game and offers a pick. Click the link above to get Loot's take! (8PM EST) - 9/3

Fresno State Bulldogs vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers Prediction - The Mountain West's Fresno State Bulldogs come to Memorial Stadium to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the opening Saturday of the college football season. After losing their first home opener in 29 seasons last year, Nebraska is looking to exorcise that demon this season. And after a rare sub-.500 season, the Nebraska football machine is looking to start rolling again. But Fresno has hopes of their own and look to give the Cornhusker faithful a little sweat. Who covers the spread in this week one matchup? (8PM EST) - 9/3

Georgia Bulldogs vs. North Carolina Tar Heels Pick - At the Georgia Dome in the first Saturday of the CFB season, the Georgia Bulldogs take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in a key week one matchup. Georgia is without coach Mark Richt for the first time in a while after bringing in Kirby Smart to lead this team back to glory. This is no layup opener, however, with the Tar Heels coming off an 11-win season and looking to showcase an explosive offense this season. Who notches the cover in this one? (5:30PM EST) - 9/3

UCLA Bruins vs. Texas A&M Aggies Pick - Opening college football Saturday of the 2016 season features a nice Pac-12 vs. SEC matchup of 8-5 teama from last season, with the UCLA Bruins coming to College Station to face the Texas A&M Aggies. Both teams are looking for a better season in 2016 and enter the new campaign with some realistic hopes. Who comes out ahead in this one, and more importantly, who covers the spread? (3:30PM EST) - 9/3

LSU Tigers vs. Wisconsin Badgers Pick - Two teams with high hopes do battle in week one, with the LSU Tigers and Wisconsin Badgers meeting at Lambeau Field on opening Saturday of the college football season. LSU has a lot of things lining up nicely for a good run this season, including one of the nations' top weapons in RB Leonard Fournette. Wisconsin, meanwhile, is coming off a nice 10-win season and they have hopes of their own. Who comes out ahead in this battle at Lambeau? Loot gives his take and his pick to cover the spread in this article. (3:30PM EST) - 9/3

Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Washington Huskies Pick - The first Saturday of the college football season features a lot of interesting games. One of them sees the Rutgers Scarlet Knights making the super-sized road trip to Seattle from New Jersey to face a Washington Huskies team that looks poised to make their imprint on the Pac-12. Can Rutgers give the Huskies a run for their money or will this be a rout? Loot offers his against-the-spread advice in this piece. (2PM EST) - 9/3

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Houston Cougars - In a tough matchup on opening Saturday, the Oklahoma Sooners and Houston Cougars meet in NRG Stadium. Neither team is afforded the opportunity to warm up to the task this season with the Sooners coming off a College Football Playoff appearance, facing a team that was 13-1 last season. With the Sooners in title-or-bust mode, can they get off to a good start or will the still under-the-radar Cougars give them a scare? Loot offers his wagering counsel in this piece. Click the link above to get Loot's take on this exciting matchup! (12PM EST) - 9/3

Bowling Green Falcons vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Prediction - After a season of nearly making it to the CFP, Ohio State looks to get back to the national stage in 2016, but faces a tricky opener with a Bowling Green bunch that won ten games last season. Can Ohio State fill in all the voids that were left by departures? Can Bowling Green compete against a team whose only setback last season was a 3-point loss to Michigan State? Is this too hard of a road game season opener for the Falcons? Loot answers those questions and more in this article. (12PM EST) - 9/3

Missouri Tigers vs. West Virginia Mountaineers Prediction - The first Saturday of the season features a nice matchup out of Morgantown, with the Missouri Tigers visiting the West Virginia Mountaineers is key week one action. The Missouri Tigers come into town with a revamped coaching staff, as they look to exorcise the demons from last season where their offense was a laughingstock. If only their offense could bring their level up to that of the defense, they'd be in good shape.
